Mitsuyuki Ikeda wants you to eat shit

A scientist in Japan has brought us a nudge closer to Soylent Green… by reconstituting human feces into meat. Story here. Things’ll have to get pretty damn bad for this idea to take off. In fact, I think most folks would prefer full-on cannibalism to eating shit. Keep an eye out for the label on Ikeda’s fridge.

Aftermath

As awing as the overhead videos of the wake of the tsunami are, seeing people dealing with it from ground level really drives home the impact. There are far worse ways to pass a few minutes today than to browse through this series of photographs, and the video below, depicting the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Japan.

Lonelysky15

The Canadian Space Agency has a northern lights webcam set up.  It’s only on during the prime aurora borealis-watching hours, so I haven’t seen it yet, but it exists.  Now that the CSA has mastered pointing things at the sky, the only logical next step is to shoot stuff up into it.

A good old fashioned bunch-of-funny-drawings post

Here’s a link to a compilation of funny takes on “pop icons” (mostly video game characters or Star Wars references, actually), which I’m sure we’ve all seen a few but not all of before, and which may or may not have been commissioned specifically to appear on t-shirts. For me the seventh one down is worth the price of admission alone.

Baby Cakes

There’s a thin line between genius and insanity. Brad Neely’s series of Baby Cakes animations waver back and forth over that line. The title character is like a cross between Jim Carroll, Kevin Spencer, and some hardcore D&D geek.

Neely’s YouTube channel has all the videos in this handy playlist.

Here are a couple favourites; though, if these catch your interest you might consider watching the playlist in order, as there trace elements of continuity throughout the videos.
